The moringa plant, also known as the magic tree, has been used for thousands of years by primitive cultures to help cure various ailments. It has recently received a lot of attention from the medical community around the world praising this plant for its health benefits and nutritional qualities.

Each part of this tree has special properties; be it leaves, flowers, seeds, bark, sap and pods. Even the oil extracted from the tree has certain properties similar to olive oil and does not go rancid.
Moringa is also defined as a superfood because it contains not only many nutrients but also phytonutrients. According to ayurveda, it has several purported benefits, such as essential amino acids, and more importantly it has seven times more potassium than bananas, three times more protein than milk, seven times more vitamin C than oranges and twenty five times more more iron than spinach.

According to Ex District Ayurvedic Officer (DAO), Government of Himachal Pradesh, Dr Hem Raj Gautam, “More people are preferring the miracle drink of the Moringa plant over their intestinal evening tea or coffee. Moringa Olieifera is taking over the world as a new natural superfood and has been traditionally used in South India to make teas and add stews.

Help lose weight

Consuming moringa helps in weight loss as it reduces fat formation and helps break down fat in the body. Moringa powder has been shown to aid weight loss. Several studies conducted on animals have shown that moringa can reduce fat from the body.

Moringa leaves are very high in nutrients such as Vitamins A, B6, and C, as well as Riboflavim. The drumstick stem of the plant is rich in iron and the flowers are rich in magnesium.

Increase immunity

Moringa is loaded with special immune boosters with antioxidants like chlorogenic acid and vitamin C thus basically helping our body to fight disease and boost immunity.

It reduces inflammation

Inflammation is the body’s natural response to infection or injury. Inflammation is an important protective mechanism the body uses to defend itself, but it can become a major health problem if it persists over a long period of time. Moringa contains a special compound called Isothiocyanete which is the main anti-inflammatory compound in the pods and seeds of the plant that reduces inflammation when taken daily.

Can lower cholesterol levels

Moringa is especially helpful for those suffering from high cholesterol and both animal and human-based studies have shown that Malinga olefera can lower cholesterol levels when taken with Amaranth. Capsules made from Moringa leaves are given to patients with high cholesterol levels.
