Seasonally Ready & Silverstone With Next-Gen ATX 3.0 & Gen 5 PSU, Meeting High Power Needs of Upcoming GPUs

ATX 3.0 and Gen 5.0 (12VHPWR) standards are designed to fully support clean generation CPU & GPU platforms and cope with the 3x power spikes that new hardware will create. As such, the PSU industry is gearing up to launch the next generation of products that will meet your PC’s power needs for years to come.

Starting with Seasonic, the company is producing a new line of “PS Vertex” series which will range from 1000W to 1200W units and available in 80+ Gold and up to 80+ Platinum series. The PSU complies with the ATX 3.0 standard and has one PCIe Gen 5.0 connector, which delivers up to 600 Watts of power to the GPU. The 80+ Platinum Seasonic series features a fully modular design while the 80+ Gold series is partially modular.

As for prices, US outlets, Tech-America and Provence already listed the product. Units start at $231 & 258 US for 1000W Gold and 1000W Platinum, respectively. The 1200W unit is listed at $267 and $304 US for the 80+ Gold and 80+ Platinum designs, respectively. Based on the images found by Harukaze5719, we can see that the PSU comes with a black chassis and has a large fan for exhausting air. There are no flashy RGB or colorful accents on the PSU which is definitely a plus.

Moving to Silverstone, the company has announced the latest HELA 850R Platinum PSU which is certified by Cybenetics and comes in an 850W 80+ Platinum design that is fully compliant with ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 standards. The PSU is a standard ATX form factor design and features a super flexible black flat cable, All Japan Electrolytic capacitors, and 24/7 (continuous) power output at an operating temperature of 50C.

Meanwhile, ASUS also seems to be working on the ROG LOKI SFX-L lineup of PSUs that will come in a 1000W 80+ Platinum design in white and black models. GreatWall is the OEM behind the LOKI series and the units are certified by Cybernetics. PSUs will come in more flavors with different wattage but 1000W seems to be the only option that will be available during launch. Units will range from 750, 850, 1000 and 1200W with up to 80 Plus Titanium ratings & a 10 year warranty will be bundled with them.

As such, if you’re planning to build a new gaming PC with an RTX 4090 or RX 7900 XT, it’s a good idea to make sure to get a PSU in the respective wattage range on the ATX 3.0 standard. Currently, some PSU makers such as: MSI, ASUS, Gigabytes, FSP Group thermal pick-up & Cooler sir has announced a PCIe Gen 5 & ATX 3.0 compliant design.
