Switch Cart / Wii U

If you’re even remotely present in the true hell that is Twitter, then you’re bound to see memes where gamers snap photos of their Switch consoles tethered to game discs from other platforms placed on top; a metaphor for users wanting to see the game port arrive on the Switch.

Very funny, we’re sure you’ll agree, but ultimately a harmless way to invite some likes and retweets. But what if you tried the other way around? Plugging a Switch wagon into a Wii U disk drive certainly sounds like a recipe for disaster, and sadly that’s what one North American owner had to deal with after their son got his hands on both systems.

In a post on Twitter, user Jose A Cruz shared a photo of a broken Wii U console to remove a bunch of Switch carts from a disk drive. Looking at the photos, it looks like there are four wagons in total, and while it’s impossible to see all of them, we can see that three of the four are Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Mario Party Superstarand Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freezing.

How this actually happened is anyone’s guess. Maybe the owner’s son mistakenly thought the Switch wagon would work on the Wii U? Maybe it was an act of rebellion? In any case, we can only imagine the look on the poor owner’s faces when they realized where their lost Switch wagon was – imagine!

Fortunately, it looks like it all ended on a positive note; in a follow-up tweet, the Wii U disk drive appears to be working fine and the Switch cart has been safely removed with no signs of damage. Happy days!

Let this serve as a cautionary tale, however; If you have children – especially young ones – be sure to keep your valuables out of reach. Switching carts might feel really disgustingbut that doesn’t mean they won’t end up somewhere else hard to reach!
