iPhone 14 Professional stay: New colours, Dynamic Island in motion, and extra [Videos]

It iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max now official, and they come with many new features. Two of the biggest improvements are the redesigned notch, which Apple now calls the “Dynamic Island,” and the new always-on display. Open below to see the new iPhone 14 Pro in action.

New iPhone 14 Pro colors

The new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be available in four colors, two of which we’ve seen before and two of which are new: gold, silver, dark purple, and jet black. The first image we saw of the practice area at the Steve Jobs Theater brought the new colors to life and also shows some upgrades to the silver.

The new spaced black is not too dark on the back, but looks darker than the graphite layer. Where it really stands out is on the stainless steel edges, which are pure black similar to the old space black Apple Watch. The new dark purple design looks great with a glossy finish around the stainless steel edges and a fainter purple tint on the back.

The gold coating of the iPhone 14 Pro looks unchanged from the previous version, but Matthew Panzarino from TechCrunch said silver color looks much better. In previous versions, the white/silver color seemed muted and muddy, but this year it looks closer to bright white.

Here are some pictures of the new white coating as well as how the black space looks compared to the iPhone 13 Pro’s graphite, owned by Panzarino.

And here’s a new deep purple look from iJustine and from Krystal Lora.

Always On Screen and Dynamic Island

Beyond the new colors, the other big changes to the physical appearance of the iPhone 14 Pro are the new Dynamic Island and the Always-On display.

Dynamic Island is what Apple calls a notch replacement. As rumored, the company is bridging the gap between the two separate display pieces. The big surprise here is that the area between the gaps is really interactive and, well, dynamic. It contains contextual information based on the application you are using or direct data from other applications.

For example, Dynamic Island can display artwork for the music you’re playing. It also integrates with the Clock app for things like stopwatches and timers. There’s integration with Apple Maps for navigation information, Live Activity support for real-time notifications, and more.

The Always-On display works as we expected. It shows a dimmed version of your iPhone’s lock screen with things like widgets and the time visible. It can also show a dimmed version of your wallpaper.

Head over below for some live footage of Dyanmic Island and the iPhone 14 Pro’s Always-On screen. The new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max went on sale on Friday and will be available on September 16. We expect an in-depth review from the embargoed press sometime early next week.
