A man opened fire inside a crowded bar in Boyle Heights Sunday morning, leaving one person in critical condition and injuring five others.
The shooting took place at about 12:45 a.m. at the Holiday Bar located at 2471 Whittier Boulevard.
Witnesses told police that a fight broke out between several people when a man pulled out a gun and fired into the crowd.
“It is not known who he was arguing with,” Letisia Ruiz of Los Angeles Police told KTLA. “When he pulled out a gun he shot into the crowd and that’s when people got shot.”
Chaos spills over to Whittier Blvd. as a bar guard ran for safety, witnesses said.
In total, six people, four men and two women, were injured, including one victim in critical condition.
The suspect, a 25-year-old man, was taken into custody. His name was not immediately released.
Blvd. between Soto Street and Fickett St. closed Sunday morning due to an investigation.
